Collage became an important component in the art of Don Weir about 15 years ago. The landscape collages were initially undertaken as part of an attempt to explore and understand the austere design elements of the northern and southern deserts on the North American continent that he encountered during his travels. As is almost always the case, the collages have taken on a life of their own and now are finished works all unto themselves.
